What To Wear To A Concert

$
0
0

You got your tickets and now you have to figure out what to wear to a concert. This isn't just a problem experienced by females in the modern age. Men want to look their best as they enjoy their favorite band's performance.

  1. Start with a pair of jeans. When figuring out what to wear to a concert, always start with your favorite pair of bottoms. Make sure they fit securely as to not fall off when you are inspired to jump up and down, and not be too tight to sit comfortably for an hour or more at a time. Be sure they are clean and wrinkle free. Do not wear jeans that are torn to expose areas better left private.
  2. Choose a shirt to fit your personality. When deciding what to wear to a concert, put your own personality into consideration and choose a shirt that suits you. If you like plaid, get out that button down shirt and put it on. If you prefer subtle, wear a white or pastel pull over. Assure that your shirt is comfortable and will not ride up when you raise your hands in the air to cheer.
  3. Put on any of the performing artists memorabilia. What to wear to a concert is often decided by who is performing. If it is a new band, you may have nothing to represent your love for them, but older or more established acts offer necklaces, bracelets, t-shirts, etc for you to wear as a show of support. Be careful wearing shirts from bands that have possibly feuded with the band playing or have conflicting interests of any kind.
  4. Be tasteful in your selections. The most important point in deciding what to wear to a concert is being tasteful and considerate of your fellow concert goers. Do not wear shirts with saying meant to shock or offend. Leave super tight or overly cut-up pants at home.

How To Cufflink A Shirt

It's a smart idea to learn how to cufflink a shirt if you're the type of man who likes to pay attention to details when you step out on the town. Cufflinks are a classy yet simple finishing touch to any man's formal outfit.

  1. Put on your shirt. Always pull on your shirt first before you cufflink a shirt. It should be a clean button down shirt (dress shirt) if you're planning to use cufflinks. Button up your shirt and leave the cuffs open (unbuttoned). Pull them down straight.
  2. Fold the cuffs and match the holes. Pull each open cuff back so the holes lines up with the other set of holes on the sleeve. Make sure that you take your time to crease the fold so that the holes line up almost perfectly when you cufflink a shirt.
  3. Hold the cuff edges together. Keep your folds down in the same position with your fingers. It's easiest to hold the cuffs together at the bottom when you cufflink a shirt (or to have your wife or girlfriend do it).
  4. Insert cufflinks. Run the cufflink through the lined up holes. The decorative part of the cufflink should show out when you place your hands at your sides when you cufflink a shirt. Make sure that it's facing out, then connect the closure to the other side of the cufflink to keep it in place. Pull your sleeves all the way down and throw on your jacket–you're ready to step out on the town.

When you are out on the slopes, a pair of warm ski gloves that fit well and feature good mobility are vital to your success on the slopes.  Often finding the perfect ski gloves takes forever, so when you find a great pair you definitely want to take care of them.  To avoid stains, and keep them in good condition, wash the ski gloves as often as possible.  If you take care when cleaning your ski gloves, you will have them for years to come.  When you are not on the slopes, here are a few tips on how to effectively clean your ski gloves.

  1. Check the label.  Depending on the fabric the care for ski gloves will vary.  Read the label inside and when applicable clean the ski gloves according to the manufacturer's recommendation.  Look for any leather details.  Often gloves with leather patches require special care.  Always follow the care instructions for your specific gloves.
  2. Wash the gloves.  If your gloves have a liner you can pull it out and wash it separately.  Put a mild detergent in your washing machine and wash the gloves on the gentle cycle.  A rigorous cycle may cause the gloves to rip, so always wash them with the machine set to a gentle cycle when cleaning them.
  3. Dry.  Squeeze out any excess water from the entire length of the glove.  Allow the gloves to air dry.  Never put them in a clothes dryer or you may damage the gloves.

Pastry Chef Attire

The pastry chef's attire is the same attire as the rest of the members of the cook staff in a restaurant. The pastry chef is an extremely important position in any culinary establishment or institute.  The pastry chefs are responsible for providing a restaurant with its desserts or a bakery with its variety of products. Many bakers and pastry chefs work overnight hours in order to prepare their specialties for the business day before it begins. Although a pastry chef may spend his or her time working apart from the rest of the cook staff or in a different area of the kitchen, the attire of the pastry chef remains the same.

  1. The Jacket. The chef's jacket as it is identified by most common observers today was designed in the 19th century by Marie-Antoine Careme.  Careme decided to utilize the color white for the jackets as well as to use the double breasted design that chef's use. The double breasted design was implemented so that the jacket could be reversed in case it accumulated too many stains throughout the course of a day or evening.  The double layer of cloth also helped protect a chef against the high heat of the kitchen.
  2. The Pants. The standard attire for a pastry chef and for all chefs in regard to their pants is to wear straight black slacks. The black slack design was part of the new uniform designed by Marie-Antoine Careme.  Many chefs do choose to wear white slacks or sometimes checked or pinstripe slacks.  This trend began in the later part of the 20th century and is a non-traditional look.
  3. The Hat. A chef's hat or toque has been a part of their attire as far back as the 16th century according to some sources.  The hat of an experienced chef will be taller and straighter than that of a less experienced pastry chef or any other chef. The hats of the less experienced chefs will resemble more of a beret or a cap, while the hat of an experienced chef will look closer to a top hat without a brim. In addition, the folds in the hat are supposed to represent the different ways that a chef can prepare an egg.

The chef's uniform is standard throughout the industry, no matter what expertise a chef may have.  Although some chefs have chosen to take a nontraditional approach to their uniforms, the above referenced pieces are all the traditional parts and appearances of a pastry chef's uniform.

What To Wear To Funeral

$

If it’s been a long time since your great aunt so-and-so passed, and you only now need to go to a family funeral, you may want to review what to wear to a funeral. The Bible says, “Let the dead bury their own dead,” (Matthew 8:22) but back then they didn’t have the style we have today. They also didn’t know a lot about networking, social or otherwise, except when they were turning water into wine and spinning straw into gold. Stick around and we’ll have you looking sharp and giving the dead a proper goodbye, but we won’t give any recommendations on sending flowers.

What you’ll need:

  • A suit
  • Proper shoes
  • A tie
  • An under shirt
  • A dress shirt
  • cuff links
  • no more than three accessories
  1. Ditch the blazer for a suit. Choosing the right suit or blazer can make or break your funeral look. Don’t wear anything too casual as this is a somber moment. Your light sport jacket from the ’80s that you wore every day to high school with Public Image Limited, Sex Pistols, and Dead Kennedys pins down the lapel is not what you want to wear to bury your kin. You can get away with a blue blazer and dress pants, but a gentleman opts for a suit. Try a black suit with a modern cut by Marc Jacobs or Hugo Boss if you want to be remembered long after the dead are buried and gone.
  2. The well heeled mourner. Shoes are of great concern when deciding what to wear to a funeral. Funeral shoes should not be the shoes worn to the office or job site, unless, maybe, you are a banker. Black, lace-up shoes are the selection for the day.
  3. The cravat makes the man. A good tie is a must at a funeral. Forget all this cutsie crap with little designs and bold, joyful colors. Save it for a day at the beech, and instead. Wear a solid color such as a purple or deep red. To mix it up if you are wearing the traditional black suit with a white shirt, wear a black tie with a white damask pattern.
  4. An undershirt.  Always, always wear an undershirt. Nobody wants to see your skin tone or chest hair shining through your dress shirt when the sunlight hits it just so.
  5. “I remember he always wore white dress shirts when he attended funerals.” The traditional dress shirt for a wedding is white. Wear a Ferragamo classic fit white dress shirt to a funeral for style and comfort.
  6. Cuff-Links. If the funeral is to be held at a wealthy congregation, cuff links are a must. If the location is less than wealthy cuff-links can be ostentatious. Drop a couple grand on a pair of Paloma’s groove cuff links to show you care.
  7. Other Accessories. It has been said, never wear more than three accessories when you testify in court, and a belt counts as one accessory. This is a good rule for what to wear to a funeral as well, but we will give you a furlough to wear up to five, including the tie and cuff-links. At a funeral wear a belt or suspenders, wedding band and a watch. If you’re not married, bring a flask of whisky, or if you’re married, skip the watch or wedding band. In hot and sunny climates skip the booze (someone else will bring it) and wear sunglasses.

How To Dress For Work At A Law Firm

Whether you are a lawyer or a legal secretary, it's important that you know how to dress for work at a law firm. People expect lawyers — and anyone who works in a law office — to have a professional and sophisticated appearance. This means you need to be professionally dressed at all times. If you are new to the law field, it can be difficult to get your new look correct. It's important to purchase the basic clothes staples to begin to build your professional wardrobe.

In order to dress for work at a law firm you will need:

  • Tailored suit jackets
  • Fitted dress pants
  • Button-up dress shirts for men
  • Stylish camisole for women
  • Dress shoes
  • Accessories
  1. Purchase suit jackets, pants and/or skirts. While it's important to have a variety of outfits to dress for work at a law firm, when you first get your job, stick to purchasing neutral colors. Suit jackets should be tailored to fit your body so you have a more clean-cut appearance. Pants need to be hemmed to the correct length so they don't drag when you walk or show your socks. If you are a woman that prefers skirts, you need to purchase skirts that hit just below knee; skirts that taper at the bottom tend to flatter most body shapes, and give you a more put-together look than a straight skirt.
  2. Purchase dress shirt or camisole. Men need to purchase button-up dress shirts with a collar to wear under their suit jacket. For women, a camisole tends to work best. Not only do camisoles have a closer fit to your body, they tend to be more comfortable to wear under a suit jacket. For your first purchases stick to neutral colors, like beige, white, black, grey and navy.
  3. Purchase dress shoes. Dress shoes should look nice, but also need to be comfortable. Walk around the shoe store a bit when try the shoes on to make sure you can stand wearing them all day. You need to have a pair of shoes to match each suit you purchase.
  4. Purchase the right accessories. When you dress for work at a law firm, keep your accessories to a minimum. Women should stick to metals, gold silver or titanium necklaces and stud earrings. Diamonds are appropriate for stud earrings, small necklace charms and rings. Men should refrain from jewelry, except watches and wedding bands, but need a tie, tie clips and cuff links.
  5. Organize clothes by outfit. It makes it easier to dress for work at a law firm if you organize your professional attire by outfit. Hang your suit jackets and pant and/or skirts in pairs. Organize your shoes and accessories so you know which items go with which outfit.

How To Dress For A Cocktail Party

Knowing how to dress for a cocktail party can mean the difference between making a connection or losing one. While the term "cocktail party" is used loosely these days, it's still important to dress correctly. Look at the invitation for preferred attire or hints. Did you receive a formal invitation via mail? If the invitation is fancy or elegant, the attire will normally be nothing less than a suit. If you're still unsure, politely ask the host what the preferred attire is.

To dress for a cocktail party, you will need:

  • Tux
  • Suit
  • Dress slacks
  • Dress shirt
  • Dress socks
  • Dress shoes
  • Tie
  1. Formal attire or "black tie" requires the tux. Rent one if you don't have one, but don't show up without it.
  2. Wear a nice suit for a business cocktail party. Bring out the nice cuff links; business cocktail parties are venues for impressing current or potential employers and clients.
  3. Put on a pair of nice dress slacks and a button-down shirt with a tie for a casual party. Wear your dress shoes as well. Never wear jeans if it's a cocktail party—it's not that kind of casual. Pair this combination with a sweater vest or sport coat if it's chilly outside.

No matter what kind of cocktail party you're attending, it will certainly be a venue for building relationships and making connections. If you know it's not formal but aren't sure about the suit, remember you can take off the suit jacket. Under-dressing can mean the difference between impressing a boss or the girl in the corner. Dress for the weather as well. Wear heavier suits in cooler temperatures and lighter materials when it's warm. For most cocktail parties, the suit is sufficient.

How To Wear A Bow Tie

A bow tie is a suave and chic accessory, and knowing how to wear a bow tie is essential if you want to make your outfit pop! It should always be worn with a tuxedo, and even though wearing one might seem easy, here are a few pointers to make sure you don't make any mistakes.

To wear a bow tie, you will need

  • A tuxedo shirt
  • A mirror
  • A bow tie
  1. Your tuxedo shirt should be properly prepared before wearing your bow tie. Make sure it is properly ironed and pressed, including the collar and sleeves. If you are unsure how to do this yourself, send it to your local dry-cleaner. Remember that the collar of your tuxedo shirt is especially important, as it should be stiff, smooth, and wrinkle free.
  2. Once your shirt is properly prepared, put it on, buttoning up all the buttons. Tuck it inside your pants.
  3. Now pull your tuxedo shirt collars up, and put on your bow tie. Pull the collar down. Make sure that the bow tie is correctly tied. If you don't know how to tie your own bow tie, you can always just buy a pre-tied one from a local clothes shop. Make sure the bow tie isn't broader than your neck, and doesn't extend past the collar of your tuxedo shirt.
  4. Now align your bow tie, making sure it is perfectly centered on your shirt. It shouldn't dangle down your chest, but should be slightly tight. Stand in front of the mirror, and make adjustments to the fit until you are satisfied.

What To Wear To A Formal Wedding

Need to know what to wear to a wedding? A formal wedding is one of pure elegance and sophistication, and as such, requires guests to dress accordingly. There are a few details about the wedding that can make a difference in deciding your fashion for that specific event:

  • Time of the wedding
  • Wedding invitation details (I.e. Black Tie, White Tie, Formal, Semi-formal)
  1. How to Dress for a Formal Wedding in Daylight. Dressing for a formal day wedding is the most casual of the formal weddings, but still formal. Men can wear lighter suits, (grays and pinstripes) but should still wear a tie.
  2. How to Dress for a Formal Wedding at Night. This category is when the wedding invitation details really come in to play. If the invitation specified white tie or black tie attire, then see below for the proper attire required. Otherwise, the color palette should involve darker colors. Pastels are more appropriate for a day wedding, where as midnight blues, dark purples and the like are better worn to evening weddings. Men should wear dark full dress. Though this doesn’t necessarily mean a tuxedo, men should wear black pants, matching black tailcoat, white shirt, white vest and a tie (preferably black).
  3. How to Dress for a Black Tie Formal Wedding. To put it simply, if “Black Tie” is specified on an invitation, men need to wear a tuxedo. The tux can be single breasted or double breasted and the lapels can be peak, notch, or shawl collar. It's your choice. However, you must wear a formal shirt, a white dress shirt will not do. A pleated tux shirt is a must, and it is best to wear a fold down collar instead of a wing collared or you will fit in more with the waiters. You should wear cuff links and studs and can choose between a bow-tie and cummerbund set or a vest and tie set.
  4. How to Dress for a White Tie Formal Wedding. A wedding specified as a “White Tie” event is considered the most formal a wedding can get. This requires men to wear full dress, with white tie, vest and shirt.  Specifically, a black tailcoat (or sometimes called swallow -tailcoat), silk socks, matching black trouser, white pique formal shirt (winged collar is preferred), white pique vest, and a white pique bow-tie. A regular tuxedo will not do. If you want to wear a hat, it must be a top hat and if you want to wear an overcoat, it must be a Chesterfield, an Inverness or a Guard‘s coat. The only exceptions to a full out tux is for military personnel (I.e. dress blues), ministers can wear formal clerical attire and those needing to wear formal state costumes (I.e. kilts).

Quick Tips on How to Dress for a Formal Wedding
  • If you wear black, don’t look like you are going to a funeral.
  • If you wear white, make it tasteful and try to leave full white to the bride.
  • Couples can color-coordinate for formal weddings.
  • Don’t cut corners. If the invitation says formal – it means formal.
  • Formal weddings are not the time to express yourself through fashion – dress accordingly.

5 Best Dress Pants For Men

For the guys who can’t wear their jammies or undies all day long, we present our list of the 5 best dress pants for men. Whether it’s going out to dinner with your girlfriend’s family, going to an interview, or preparing for your funeral, dress pants are a must for just about all men. Remember what ZZ Top said: every girl’s crazy about a sharp-dressed man. So, with that in mind, it’s in your best interests to have at least a couple pair of dress pants that look good and feel good, or at least as good as dress pants can feel. Listed below are a few brands that we consider ideal as far as manufacturers of dress pants for men.

  1. Massimo. This brand offers some pretty nice and affordable slacks. Be warned, though – some of what they offer is wool, so be sure to check the fabric before sticking it into the wash.
  2. Austin Reed. Here’s another nice brand that offers dress pants for men. Overall kinda, sorta reasonably-priced as far as pants go. Austin Reed is actually the economical, bastardized version of more expensive brands like Hickey Freeman and Burberry…so while it may seem kind of pricey by itself, it is fairly cheap compared to its peers.
  3. Dockers. Another name in the world of economical, professional-quality dress pants for men. This brand is great for someone who wants to look dressy and not have to sell their very soul to do so.
  4. DKNY. This name boasts comfort, professionalism, and versatility…so hey, how can you go wrong with something like that? The price is good compared to the cost of their jeans, but if you go with this brand, we recommend the solid black pants. This I only because all the other colors of dress pants for men they offer are really crappy.
  5. Calvin Klein. Great selection, bloody awful prices. A single pair of dress pants from this brand can cost around a hundred bucks! And they’re not gold-plated, they don’t make you invisible, and they don’t vibrate…great quality, but a horrible cost and whether or not they are worth the charge is totally dependent on individual tastes.

A final little tidbit of advice, fellas: if you’re a bit on the husky side, we strongly advise against pleated dress pants. This is just because these pleats will not in any way flatter your figure and may actually make you look larger. Conversely, if you’re scrawny, get pleated dress pants – they’ll augment your body shape nicely.

How To Dress To Impress Women

It is a must for every man to know how to dress to impress women. Remember the old saying, "The clothes makes the man"? First impressions are lasting, so proper attire is essential to impressing women. A man who wants to be in or stay in a relationship with a woman will always be auditioning. A man's clothes will help impress a potential wife of girlfriend and convince her that he is the one and only man for her. Check out the strategy below for ways to impress women with your clothing.

  1. Always over-dress. A shirt, a tie, a pair of slacks and dress shoes are always going to be the best choice, yet most men don't feel comfortable in this attire. Get used to it. It says you are always ready for business and opportunities. You can lose the tie for comfort or wear a sweater instead of a jacket. Always keep your clothes clean and pressed.
  2. Do not wear sports gear unless you are at the gym. Sports gear might send the wrong message; a woman may perceive you as being immature. If you absolutely have to wear sports gear, make sure your body is impressive and looks like you visit the gym on a regular basis.
  3. Stay well groomed. Keep your hair cut, clean and styled at all times. Find at least one good hair product that brings out the natural beauty of your hair. Carry a comb or brush with you wherever you go. If you wear a beard, wear a light one. Wear a nice cologne and wear it very lightly, most men over use fragrances. Always wear a smile; smiling will impress women. Never frown when you are around women, frowning may be taken the wrong way. You may be thought of as being pouty and self centered. If you don't want to smile, just keep a normal face when you are around women.

Remember to always dress to fit the occasion, but to impress, you must go a step or two further. Spend your wardrobe money wisely, shop at outlet stores and even second-hand stores.

Learning how to impress a woman at work can be quite a challenge, especially when making a good first impression. It is important how you approach a woman and what type of lasting impression you leave her. Certain pick up lines can be insulting or intimidating to a woman. Depending on the situation, you could be so nervous that you end up stumbling over your words or blushing. This can either be a huge turn off for a woman or it can flatter her. What about your appearance, should you dress to impress or just be yourself? Questions and concerns could go through your head all day. Continue reading this article to learn the proper way to impress a woman at work.

  1. Be yourself. Don't act fake or try to put on a front and be somebody that you're not. A woman should like you for who you really are, and not who you want to be. Be comfortable in your own skin and let the women see your true appeal and beauty. Just being yourself alone is a great way to impress a woman at work.
  2. Always be presentable. Always wear proper attire. Don't try to overdress when you want to impress a woman, especially if that is not your normal dress. You don't have to wear super fancy clothes or really expensive cologne, but just make sure that you do look good and smell good, as you hopefully do already. Make sure that you always keep a clean look and act clean at work. A woman will not want to be with a man that is not presentable for her to introduce to her family and friends.
  3. Be a gentlemen. Letting a woman out of the elevator first, opening doors, or offering a helping hand are always things that you can do impress a woman at work. Be a gentlemen not only to her, but also be a gentlemen to other woman as well. Women are impressed by men who are not only chivalrous toward her, but towards everyone. Also, be respectful to her and others at all times.
  4. Show your interest in her. Always start your conversation with asking about her. Show interest in wanting to know about her. Ask questions about her, her family and friends. Take note of what she says by listening and remembering important things that she shares with you, and later on, you can bring up some of these things in future conversations.

Knowing how to choose a cufflinks set means that you will have the right look to go with your suits and formal wear. Shirts with buttons to close the cuff are fine with sweaters and sports jackets. But with suits or formal wear a shirt with a linked cuff is the standard. A linked cuff requires a cufflinks set to close it.

If you want to choose a cufflinks set, you will need:

  • Shirt with a linked cuff
  • Cufflinks set
  1. Cufflinks should be double-sided. When you choose a cufflinks set be sure that is not one with only a closure on one side so the cufflinks set looks good from any angle.
  2. A cufflinks set with jewels should only be worn for evening events. For daytime wear a gold or silver cufflinks set. Or choose a cufflinks set with an inlay of natural materials such as ivory or jade.
  3. For a modern take, try a cufflinks set with some color or in an unusual shape. Silver links with hand-blown glass tips, or shapes such as skulls or peace symbols are easy to find, even at a fine jeweler.
  4. Silk knots are alternative to a traditional cufflinks set. Although inexpensive a silk knot cufflinks set is always in style.
  5. Another kind of cufflink to consider is a chained cufflink. This British design has two ornamental sides that are connected by a chain.
  6. Consider buying a vintage cufflinks set. Vintage cufflinks can be a distinctive way to show your style as many sets will be unique compared to the modern versions available.

Summer Workwear Tips So You Stop Sweating Your Ass Off

Sporting pit stains at the office is not a good look. But flip flops and tank tops won’t do either. So how do you stay cool and still look professional? Here are a few summer workwear tips that won’t make you sweat.

1. Sport a polo shirt.
If your workplace dress code allows it, ditch the shirt and tie and go for a fitted polo instead. The polo is the T-shirt’s dressier cousin, and it’s great for a warm work day. To avoid looking like your dad on the golf course, go for a more fitted style and leave it untucked.

2. Lighten with linen.
Breathable and lightweight linen is the fabric of summer. But wear it with caution—it can easily turn into resort wear. You don’t want to look like an old leathery guy on a cruise with his chest hair hanging out. Look for a tailored fit, rather than something billowy. And try different colors—it doesn’t have to be white. A cotton linen blend shirt in blue would be perfect tucked into khaki chinos.

3. Ditch the dark colors.
One easy way to stay cool is to wear lighter colors. Whether you wear suits to work or pants and a shirt, ditch the black and navy. Invest in khaki or light gray, and finish the look with brown suede dress shoes.

4. Fitted short-sleeve shirts are your friends.
A
long with the polo, a short-sleeved button-up shirt is another way to be professional yet comfortable this summer. For work, go for more conservative patterns like plaids and solids. And, as always, tailoring is everything. The sleeves should be fitted but not tight, and you want the overall fit to be slim, not boxy.

5. Wear no-show socks: Bare ankles are in this summer. Along with your fitted chinos and the perfect tan shoe, let those ankles free. Just be sure to wear no-show socks; no matter what season it is, smelly feet are always a don’t.
